Catherine Bunting's Goals & Projects for 2014

January:  Parent with Purpose
For my entire time as a parent, I’ve been utterly consumed with trials that I feel have taken away from being a proactive parent at times.  With my head above water now, I want to spend more time being more positive, proactive and purposeful in my parenting.  Luckily my college degree has given me a good background in this area, but I’d also like to spend some time reading some good parenting books that pinpoint specific issues that I’m dealing with.

February:  Enlarge my “crunchy” repertoire
For those that know me, I’m no stranger to elements of a crunchy lifestyle.  I love natural childbirth, cloth diapering, clean eating with whole foods, and dabbling with natural remedies.  I’ve been using essential oils since longer before doTerra made them envogue.  I started out pretty skeptical about their effectiveness, but as I’ve grown my knowledge and collection of oils, I’ve been amazed at their powerful properties.  I’d like to expand my knowledge into learning to use plants and herbs.  I’m going to research different herbs and their properties and pinpoint certain ones to help with immunity issues and other specific issues pertaining to my family.  I’m going to learn to make tinctures, poultices, teas for drinking and bathing, etc.

March:  Decorate my wall
I have a very large wall in my living room that I’ve never decorated.  We’ve lived in this home for 5 years.  It is front and center when you walk in my home and I’ve always been intimidated by it.  It is at the center of our home and I want it to be both pretty, and also have word art involving our families mission statement and mantras.  I guess I need to come up with a family mission statement and mantras too.

April:  Log 300 Miles on my bike
I think this goal is a little on the easy side, but since I’ll be doing it with a six-month-old in tow, and considering by that point I won’t haven ridden my bike in about 18 months it is probably a good place to start, but I’ll do more if I can.
