Anne Halpenny, January, Crochet Gifts

Hey, I'm Anne. (ATL is my blog name "Anne the Librarian") I live in Los Angeles, I'm a librarian (currently with 2 part time jobs, soon to be reduced to 1 full time job...Yay!), and I just bought my first car. I ended up on ProjectConnect because my best friend, Stefanie, sister-in-law to Nora, "dragged" me in. Actually, I love organizing and I'm not creative so seeing other peoples' creativity is helpful. I'm excited to see all the ideas!
This goal was two-fold. First, I recently took up crocheting again and this time I've gone wild! I learned how to read a pattern and I've branched out from the regular afghan or blanket. Second, my sister, her husband, and her 4 children live in England. Every year, the Christmas presents that need to be sent to England never get sent until January. Since I made them this year, it took me a little longer than usual.I usually browse Google Images for fun patterns and I stumbled upon the Angry Bird. My nephew (2 years old) loves Angry Birds so I'm really excited for this.
I started out making the purse for my niece (5 years old); it was one of my first projects.
Finally, my other nephew (6 years old) likes pirates. I couldn't find a (free) pattern so I created one. I found a pattern for a beanie, found a nice skull & crossbones, and the genius part, the back ties from a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hat(!) to create the pirate hat. This was the tough part because I do not make my own patterns.
Gifts. Done. I'm excited to see how they like them.

Ps the year after I married, I worked two part time job and didn't realize how many hours I put in until I went full time at one. Two part time jobs equal crazy hours.

Impressive skills Anne, it's so great to reconnect with you here after our chats at the wedding. I have a half finished crocheted baby blanket I made for my oldest son tucked away in a tub in my basement. He just turned NINE:( It's great to see you doing so well, keep it up!

Your projects are hip and super fun! I just finished a baby hat last night, but nothing as cute as these. Keep the projects coming!

Wow, those are really incredible! And that you came up with your own pirate hat by putting together those different patterns. Way to go! I absolutely love that you did it for the young members of your family. I'd love to know their reactions.

Nicole: I'm debating whether to ask my sister to hold the gifts until we Skype or to record the kids opening them. They have British accents (so cute!) and I'm imagining the Angry Bird nephew's reaction.

Amazing! I used to crochet forever ago! One of my bucket list items is to crochet a cover for the temple alters.
