My happiness project consisted of making 5 homemade meals a week for my
family. I really had to plan and focus to make this happen. It was
fun to talk about with the many people who come in and out of our
home. Our topic of conversation usually ended back to "Mom's happiness
project"
As time progressed through the month the kids were really
enjoying the benefits of their cooked meals and not "fend for your self"
meals. On days when I would say that I was going to opt out of
cooking they would say "but you have only cooked 3 times so far this
week..... or, what about your happiness project..... or, you can't
count that meal because Rachel (my oldest) made
half of that one." There are many other quotes available from the
Carey clan. This was such a fun thing for me to do during January
because everyone in the house enjoyed it so much. AND..... it really
wasn't all that difficult (although I'm glad that I'm not bound by it
anymore.)
I found that my happiness project is really my whole
families happiness project! So..... here's to the Joy for 2014!! We
are sharing the gospel like crazy this month! It's almost over and we
will be on to the next!

Yea, Jill. I have to laugh that your kids called you out on the project. Mine are doing the same thing. And yes more family happiness makes sense. When momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy...I just snagged that picture off facebook, because I like pictures. Thanks for participating in the project, I can't wait hear from you again.
That's a great goal! Cooking isn't my favorite thing, but it's nice to be together as a family! I guess I should be more open with my kids and then they could keep me on track :)
Yay for home-cooked meals! I started using a weekly meal planner that we all fill out during Sunday night dinner. Then everyone gets to have a say in what we eat - makes it way less difficult for me to come up with everything!
I love that your family are invested in your project. That's a sure formula for success! Who knows -- your efforts at family dinnertime may influence the next generation.
This is my constant "goal." I think having the family on board is an awesome idea! Great job & thanks for inspiring me...again ha ha!
I haven't trained my kids for fend for yourself days. So I cook almost every single night. I love all the suggestions for meal planning.
I would like you to post more about how you train your kids to fend for themselves :). I would also love to know what some of your favorite family dinners are? Can't wait to hear about all your missionary work next month!
Wonderful goal. I think it makes such a difference to prepare a meal and sit down to enjoy it together. It can take so much time and effort, right?
This is such a great goal! Something that I struggle with for sure. I love that your kids kept you accountable.
Yum.... You are a good cook, Jill! I would love to know what kinds of things you are making now-a-days... 20 years later. I remember pot roasts and breadsticks and all sorts of yummy things.
Yum, I'm sure your family totally loved this goal.
