Hi! My name's Melissa Buck and Nora is my awesome older cousin! I always felt so special growing up because she had a great nickname for me. Now, I'm not sure if she gave one to any other of my cousins, but Maloola meant a lot more to me than I think she ever knew!
I currently live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I moved back up here (it's a lonnnng story) for good in October of 2009. I am now married to Randy (the reason I moved here) for the past 3.5 years. I just received my permanent residency. I have a 9 year-old step daughter named Annaleen and two VERY spoiled cats. I'm a crazy cat lady. I'm obsessed with them. I have a fat tabby named Theo, and a tortoiseshell named Katniss. We just got Katniss in October, and they really get along. I'm a full-time nanny for twin 21 month olds, and a 6 year old girl, which I really really love. I also run a small cleaning business and kind of enjoy that. My real passion is with the kids, and I look forward to hanging out with them almost every day.
My goal for January was to read 3 books. I didn't want to have too big of a goal because we were moving into our new condo at the end of January. I read The Rosie Project, Divergent and Insurgent. I enjoyed all three books and would recommend any of them.I've been trying to read more, but spend way too much time on Facebook, Instagram, Buzzfeed and other stuff like that.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the year!

It's great to see you on here Melissa and to see you doing so well. Way to go with the books!
I loved the Rosie project. I thought it was really clever! Love the kitties!
Nice job with the books! They definitely make the winter months easier
Yea! Maloola;) Way to go on the goal, I love to read and find that if I am reading something, my thoughts seem more positive and I have better conversation skills. We had a tortoise shell growing up, Bones. She was so sweet and petite, my favorite. (she was hit by a car and found by my brother and we were all in shock for a while)
Thanks! I know it should be against our family name to not read all the time, but I always feel like I have other stuff to do! I'm glad to see you on here too! I loved your banner!
It was my favorite of the three for sure! I guess I have some of grandma in me with the cat lady love.
Thanks! It's so cold up here, I have to find something to do!
It's so true! I had so much to talk about with my friends. Katniss is getting really fat, oops!
Just saying Hello to a fellow Canadian!
I tried to think of the last book I read for fun ... and couldn't! Your post made me realize I have been neglecting a side of me that craves the uplifting power of great literature.
Nice work & beautiful family & cats. How lucky that family is to have you nanny for them!
Reading is a great goal idea. Then I could justify my reading:) Do you read all in one sitting or spread it out throughout the month? I can't ever put a book down--I have to know how it ends.
I don't even remember the last time I read a book just for fun. Maybe it was one of the Hunger Games ones. Nice job getting some reading done!
