Hello, My name is Missy Ackerson. I am married to Nora's brother Allen, he's number 5 in the bunch. Allen and I met in high school while Nora was on her mission. I don't remember the first encounter with Nora but I do remember thinking, "is she really this nice or is this an act?" Nora is definitely 'this' nice. I don't think I have ever seen her flustered or mad about anything. She is a great example to me. She is never upset, and is ALWAYS smiling. Thanks for heading this up Nora. I think having goals in life is a great way to better ourselves.
Allen and I met our senior year of high school. He liked me but I thought he was an arrogant and obnoxious boy. He was persistent and I was too nice to reject him. After a month of getting to know him I realized I really liked him and his obnoxiousness. Six months after graduation Allen left for his mission in Melbourne, Australia and as a young 19 year old girl I thought my life had ended. I did date a little while he was gone...just to make sure. Nobody else held a candle to my obnoxious boy. He came home from his mission and a month later we were engaged and 5 months after that we were married in the Salt Lake Temple. We have been best friends since high school and I love him with all my heart. Oh...our kids. We have two cuties. Carson is 12 and in the 6th grade and Ellie is 9 and in the 4th grade. Carson loves video games and reading. He is a natural athlete and is an amazing basketball player. His daddy's height is already helping him in that department. Ellie is a mini-me. She loves reading and crafting and making and leaving messes everywhere, so like me.
My handsome husband protects the community in Centerville where Nora's new home is.
Nora and I at Isaac's baby blessing.
Finally to my goals. I started half way through January so I didn't reach my goal of losing 5 pounds. I did lose 2 1/2 pounds so I was happy about that.
My other lame goal of the month was to pay a compliment to someone everyday. I mostly complimented my preschoolers, but even little ones need a little extra confidence. I love to see how their faces bright up. My goals weren't as great as everyone elses, but I figure in 2 weeks you can't get a big project in, unless you have a lot of free time on ya, I don't. Thanks for reading my novel. I love reading everyone's goals. It is very motivational.

Pay a compliment to someone every day... What a great goal! And it makes their lives better too! You are so sweet and I wish we lived closer so you could be Anna's preschool teacher!
2 1/2 pounds is HUGE!!! Go Missy! I love the compliments, so easy but huge leaves a huge effect.
You're darling & great job! I am sure I gained at least 2 1/2 pounds in January, so you're awesome!
Great job, 2 1/2 lbs. is better than no lbs. lost!
I love the story of you and Allen. Your Disney trip looked so fun! And way to go losing some. Addie reads every morning and she asked if losing weight was hard. I just nodded. Great job and thanks for doing the project. If it's a benefit, it doesn't matter "how wimpy" you think the goal might be, right? Did Allen tell you how he called on Monday morning? (He had just done an arrest [DUI] in the parking lot we could see out my back window) I'm sure just talking about is not cool but I've never felt so safe and proud!
I love that you embrace the obnoxiousness! I need to do your compliment project too, with my kids. Way to go with the weight.
Not a lame goal at all! Those sweet words will make a great difference in those kids' lives. :) You go girl!
It's so hard to lose weight... 2 1/2 pounds is great! Keep up the good work!
