Marisa Johnson, February, Dates With the Hubs

My goal for February was to go on a weekly creative date with my husband. He is the eternal romantic....I am NOT. He loves to bring flowers to me, I would rather have a plant or tree for the yard, something more practical. He loves candle lit dinners, I think it is cheesy.

He would love to go on a nice date weekly and too often I get caught up in everything with the kids, the house, etc. that we don't end up going on dates often at all. I really wanted to do some romantic dates, but my mind just doesn't work that way. SO, I decided it would be better if we just did SOMETHING for a date, rather than me stressing about trying to make it super creative or romantic and end up doing NOTHING.

So, here is what we did...

Week 1:
My grandmother passed away the first week and we ended up heading to Portland, OR and San Francisco, CA in our motor-home for a week. We didn't feel comfortable leaving the kids alone in the mortor-home while we took off for a romantic date. But, during the late night drives while the kids were asleep, we sat up front having nice (uninterrupted) conversation.
I don't have a picture of us late at night chatting, but this is the motorhome and my crazy kids!
Lombard St. in San Francisco (curviest road)

Week 2:
Michael really likes Pho. I took him to a new restaurant near us that serves it so we could try it out.

Week 3:
I wanted to make sure we continued to attend the temple at least once a month (last month my goal was to attend the temple once a week). I picked him up after work and we headed off to the temple for a great session at the Draper Temple. We took a series of pictures there, the cutest temple worker played "photographer" getting all different angles and everything. I'm not sure where those pictures disappeared to.

Week 4:
I have been traveling quite a bit, and due to time constraints, our last date was simply to head to Kneaders to get a Mexican Hot Chocolate. YUM!

I'm sorry about your grandma. I can't believe how much your family has grown. Is your second the tallest? We have that dynamic in our family, too. :)

Mexican Hot Chocolate?!!! I'll have to try it. Way to go on your dates. Uninterrupted conversation with a relaxed husband is fortifying! Sorry about your grandma. What you up to next month?

So fun! It takes definite focus to get those dates in. I love that you have a motor home and headed down Lombard street with the whole clan. They will remember that forever.

Cute pictures. Love the goal. I'm getting the idea that such a goal would be good for me to set. Even if it means making the most of some quiet time in the car to visit, instead of sticking my nose in a book or playing with technology. Nice job putting your relationship as a priority.
