Nicole Barnett, No Snacking after Dinner 5 Nights a Week

Blah. The first week went beautifully. It all went downhill from there.

I love food. I think about food all the time. So when I set a goal of deprivation for myself, it never leaves my mind. I've noticed a couple of my goals are "Don't do this" kind of goals. I think it's because I know I want to stop the behavior, but maybe I should have come up with a "Do this instead" kind of goal.

Anyway, my after dinner snacking has developed over the past several years to something really unhealthful. Ice cream is my siren call. Chocolate chips will do in a pinch.

This does not bode well for my waistline.

What picture should I post? One of my pantry? One of my face of sheepishness?

Lol, glad to know I'm not the only one that thinks about food all the time :)

Good point that it's better to have "do" instead of "don't" goals. :) Sharon, I love that ice cream too!

Face of sheepishness, he he he. I headed up a weight loss challenge last January and thought the accountability would be so helpful to me. Lead by example! I came in last. By the end I wasn't even regularly participating, and I was "in charge". I think about treats. The attempt is admirable! Off to check out girl scout ice creams.

I'm tend to do the whole "don't eat this, don't eat that" and it backfires on me too! Darn will power just peeters out after a while. I love your idea to find something to do instead of focusing on what you shouldn't be doing. Even though you might feel bad that you didn't do your month goal perfectly (just like me!) you still learned something and gained better insight as to how to be more successful in this! I call that a win!

Your goal was part of my goal this month! I found it was easier to replace an unhealthy food with a healthy one instead of trying to deprive myself. I've started snacking on cold cereal at night instead of dessert or ice cream. You get all the same elements- dairy, something cold and sweet, but less fattening!

I started that habit when I was pregnant... Helped my heartburn:). Definitely a hard one to kick!
