I had my last two babies 17 months apart. So, many things have gone neglected...72 Hour kits being one of them. ;) It has been 2 years since I have changed all the food out and put in clothes that actually fit the child! So, this forum was a good motivator for me to put this task on the front burner for a minute...
Here is a photo of the backpacks and some of the things that go inside:
The problem is that the backpacks are so dang heavy that very few of my children would be able to really carry one if they had to! I need to work on that aspect...
The other part I am still figuring out is a better place to store the stuff. We have used the front coat closet for years, but now that our family is bigger we really need that coat closet for things like coats! My husband said if we put them in the garage they will spoil more quickly. So, we are making a spot in the storage room. There is an outside entrance there if we needed to be able to get out of the house. We'll see how that turns out.
Anyone have any ideas on the best place to store your 72 hour kits??
I found a great website as I was looking for ideas. www.abowlfulloflemons.net
There are some amazing ideas there for organization.

This is such an accomplishment! We had an earthquake last week and I thought about what I would grab if I had to leave the house. The kids and my computer were all I came up with. I have no idea what we would eat or wear--so good job on the food and clothes.
I'm impressed! Those look so good. You never know when you might need them so it's great to have a sweet set-up ready to go!
I really need to do this! Way to inspire me!
