For March, my goal was to get my in-laws house ready for them to return home from their mission. This ended up being a much easier goal than I had planned. My husband and I were in charge of the care of their home for the 18 months they were gone and we did a good job keeping up on most things, but I wanted to make sure everything was really clean when they got home. My awesome sister-in-laws jumped in and cleaned the whole house for us so all we had to do was clean up the yard and it was so great! It made it stress free!
Here is the sign I made for their house.
For my next goal, I decided to clean up the toy room downstairs. When we moved into our house, we had a HUGE family room, but a tiny laundry room. About 5 or 6 years ago we took some of the space from our family room and made a bigger laundry room. I am the queen of finishing projects to about 95% and then just stopping because the little loose ends are so hard to get perfect. So for the last 5 years, we have had no baseboards in our family room. I use the end of April and all of May to clean up and organize our toy room, paint and add baseboards.
During the clean-up pics:
I really try to avoid this room at all costs. :) |
Such a mess! |
This is to show we had no baseboards. :/ |
Baseboards! Yay! |
After pics:
Little toy room under the stairs. I don't know why the wall looks green, but it is really taupe like the rest of the room. |

The baseboards look great! I am a 95%er too. I used to be a 70%er so I figure I'm making progress. My goal is to some day have a toy room in the back of the basement so I can pretend it isn't there. Our toy room currently shares a big bedroom with my two girls. No matter how many toys I get rid of I still can't keep it under control. Your family room/toy room looks great!
Yes you did it! I couldn't be more pleased that you finished it up so you could get a photo for the post. Projects connect in action baby! I think that toy room looks amazing. And what an awesome place for your family. I bet when little friends/cousins come over they just disappear! Calking practically gives me hives--so way to go with the baseboards.
