Missy Ackerson's May Goals

For YEARS I have wanted to learn how to play the guitar.  I always chicken out.  I have been borrowing Nora's guitar for way too long and need to just buy my own.  I am thinking bright yellow electric.  Classy!  I finally did it!  I signed up to take classes through Murphy's Guitar in Bountiful and love it.

Not the most flattering picture, but proof.
I also managed to get Allen to clean out the garage.  Ah, so much better.

Missy's March Goals

I am really just making up my goals as I go.  In March I finally updated the family blog to include our Florida trip.  I am happy to say that I am all caught up on the blog.  There aren't missing months in between posts.

Allen finally cleaned out the garage!!  Yes, I am excited about that.  It looks huge now.  The only problem is that his side of the garage is full of potential garage sale junk, so he has to park in the driveway.  I have been bugging him to clean it out for months now.  I like to think this is a goal reached for myself.

I sold stuff online!  I can't quit my day job, but it felt good to earn a few extra bucks on the side.  I am now diving into closets for more things to sell.

Sorry no pictures this time.  Next month I will have some from Ellie's big birthday bash.  Glad that is over.

Missy's February

The month completely flew by and I forgot to post.  My goal this month was to clean and organize Ellie's closet.  I did it!  I put her barbie house in the closet to clear out some space in her room.  I really like it now.  Ellie helped me clean her room out.  Double Whammy!  Closet and room.  The kids clean their rooms every Saturday and the week after the closet clean Ellie was in her room for FIVE hours "cleaning" or not.  Finally I told her she had 30 minutes left.  After 30 minutes I was pleasantly surprised to find it all clean...until Sunday rolled around.  I went to find a dress for her to wear to church and the closet threw up all over me.  You know that song from Sound of Music?  How do you solve a problem like Maria.  I now sing, How do you solve a problem like Ellie.  She's a peach.  Love ya El!

I also FINALLY finished our blog yearbook from....wait for it....2011.  Only a few years behind.  I love getting those books in the mail.  Something about holding it in your hands and flipping through the pictures.  It brings back some good and not so good memories.  The year 2011 was really good for us.  Below our some pictures from 2011.

Casual dress day at school.  Ellie picked this outfit out herself.  And yes, yes I did let her go to school wearing it.  Casual dress days are very limited.

It would be down right rude not to include a picture of the pets and their devil eyes.
Wow!  Carson before he hit his growth spurt.
Allen and I.

Missy's January Goals

Hello, My name is Missy Ackerson.  I am married to Nora's brother Allen, he's number 5 in the bunch.  Allen and I met in high school while Nora was on her mission.  I don't remember the first encounter with Nora but I do remember thinking, "is she really this nice or is this an act?"  Nora is definitely 'this' nice.  I don't think I have ever seen her flustered or mad about anything.  She is a great example to me.  She is never upset, and is ALWAYS smiling.  Thanks for heading this up Nora.  I think having goals in life is a great way to better ourselves.
Allen and I met our senior year of high school.  He liked me but I thought he was an arrogant and obnoxious boy.  He was persistent and I was too nice to reject him.  After a month of getting to know him I realized I really liked him and his obnoxiousness.  Six months after graduation Allen left for his mission in Melbourne, Australia and as a young 19 year old girl I thought my life had ended.  I did date a little while he was gone...just to make sure.  Nobody else held a candle to my obnoxious boy.  He came home from his mission and a month later we were engaged and 5 months after that we were married in the Salt Lake Temple.  We have been best friends since high school and I love him with all my heart.  Oh...our kids.  We have two cuties.  Carson is 12 and in the 6th grade and Ellie is 9 and in the 4th grade.  Carson loves video games and reading.  He is a natural athlete and is an amazing basketball player.  His daddy's height is already helping him in that department.  Ellie is a mini-me.  She loves reading and crafting and making and leaving messes everywhere, so like me.
My handsome husband protects the community in Centerville where Nora's new home is.

Finally to my goals.  I started half way through January so I didn't reach my goal of losing 5 pounds.  I did lose 2 1/2 pounds so I was happy about that.
My other lame goal of the month was to pay a compliment to someone everyday.  I mostly complimented my preschoolers, but even little ones need a little extra confidence.  I love to see how their faces bright up.  My goals weren't as great as everyone elses, but I figure in 2 weeks you can't get a big project in, unless you have a lot of free time on ya, I don't.  Thanks for reading my novel.  I love reading everyone's goals.  It is very motivational.
